This album is a diverse collection of instrumental music composed and performed by me, Dwight Odelius. I hope you enjoy listening, but if you don't, I'm going to have to be okay with that.

Like other instrumental music, this album is intended to be a different experience from music that you can sing along to or dig into the meaning of the lyrics. I love that kind of music, too, but there were several reasons I chose to just release an album of instrumentals. Partly, I didn't think there wasn't anything I could say that hasn't already been thought about. Honestly, it seems a lot of lyricists today tread over familiar ground. It's better, I think, for lyrics to be thoughtful, insightful, and bring new ideas to life, or else you're just copying someone else (and then your artistic merit is judged based on who you chose to steal from). But the other part of it was that I really wanted to get into the music, to shut up and play my instruments, to make interesting and engaging noises using the skills I've been taught, and not worry about activating the very distinct part of my brain that I use for writing. I've spent my whole life making music and writing, but I've really been lousy at getting them together. I write a lot, though, so maybe my next album will be a touch wordier. It would be interesting to try and reconcile. But for now, the muse is mercifully silent.
